Operational Resilience

Know what happens when things go wrong. And be ready for it.

Disruption is not a matter of if — it is a matter of when. A system failure, a vendor outage, a cyber incident, a natural disaster — every organisation faces disruptions that test its ability to continue delivering critical services. The question is not whether your organisation will be disrupted, but how quickly it recovers, how much is lost in the interim, and whether leadership knew in advance exactly what to do.

Operational resilience is the capability to anticipate, withstand, recover from, and adapt to operational disruptions. Yuwa Solutions builds this capability for financial institutions — through structured Business Impact Analysis, dependency mapping, practical recovery playbooks, and continuity testing that actually tests something.

Business Impact Analysis (BIA)

What It Is

A Business Impact Analysis is the analytical foundation of every operational resilience programme. It answers two fundamental questions: what happens to the organisation if a critical process fails, and for how long can it fail before the impact becomes unacceptable? Yuwa Solutions facilitates structured BIA workshops using our MTPD (Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption) methodology — modelling cumulative impact across five dimensions (Financial, Legal & Compliance, Customer, Operational, and Reputational) at defined time intervals. From MTPD, we derive RTOs (set at 60–70% of MTPD to build in a recovery buffer) and validate RPOs against your data architecture and backup infrastructure.

What We Deliver

BIA workshop facilitation — all critical processes and business units
MTPD determination per process across five impact dimensions
RTO and RPO documentation — derived, not estimated
Impact tolerance thresholds aligned to FCAC, FINTRAC, and CIRO obligations
Manual workaround identification and capacity constraint documentation
BIA Assessment Report — board-ready, regulator-ready
Target Stakeholders

Regulated financial institutions building or refreshing their BCP programme, preparing for a regulatory review, or seeking to formalise recovery objectives across their critical business functions.

Dependency Mapping & Analysis

What It Is

Recovery objectives are only achievable if the dependencies needed for recovery are understood and managed. Most organisations have a fragmented view of their dependency landscape — technology dependencies are known to IT, vendor dependencies are managed by procurement, and data dependencies are often undocumented entirely. Yuwa Solutions maps dependencies systematically across four categories: Technology (applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms), Vendor/Third-Party (critical suppliers, data providers, outsourced services), Data & Information (data stores, reporting systems, regulatory submissions), and People & Operational (key personnel, manual processes, knowledge concentration). Each dependency is assessed for criticality, failure impact, current recovery capability, and gaps.

What We Deliver

Dependency Assessment Matrix — all four categories across all critical processes
Single point of failure (SPOF) register — risk-rated by impact dimension
Concentration risk analysis — identification of shared dependencies across multiple processes
Gap analysis — recovery capability vs. recovery objective for each dependency
Consolidated Dependency Map — presentation-ready for leadership and regulators
Target Stakeholders

Risk, IT, and business continuity functions seeking a complete, structured view of the dependencies that underpin their critical business processes.

Recovery Playbook Development

What It Is

A recovery playbook is only valuable if it can be executed by the people who will actually use it, under the pressure of a real disruption. Most playbooks are written to satisfy an audit, not to guide a response. They are too high-level to be actionable, owned by functions that do not know they exist, and have never been tested against realistic scenarios. Yuwa Solutions writes recovery playbooks at an operational level — structured around the specific people, systems, and steps needed to recover each critical process, with quantified escalation triggers that remove ambiguity when time matters most.

What We Deliver

Recovery playbooks for each priority process — standardised structure
Trigger and escalation framework — quantified thresholds, escalation paths, communication protocols
Manual workaround documentation — what your team does when systems are unavailable
Continuity strategy options — assessed for feasibility, cost, and recovery effectiveness
Playbook owner assignment and review schedule
Target Stakeholders

Business continuity managers, risk officers, and process owners who need playbooks that will actually be used — not filed.

Business Continuity Programme Design

What It Is

A business continuity programme is more than a collection of documents. It is a governance structure, a set of processes, and a culture — all oriented toward ensuring the organisation can continue delivering critical services during and after a disruption. Yuwa Solutions designs end-to-end BCP programmes for financial institutions: from governance framework and policy, through process mapping, BIA, dependency analysis, and playbook development, to testing and knowledge transfer. Every programme is designed to be maintained and updated by your team after the engagement ends.

What We Deliver

BCP governance framework and policy
Critical process inventory and prioritisation
Business Impact Analysis and dependency mapping
Recovery playbooks for all priority processes
Testing programme design and schedule
Internal maintenance guide — how to update, review, and test the programme annually
Regulatory alignment — FCAC operational continuity expectations, FINTRAC obligations, CIRO BCP requirements
Target Stakeholders

Regulated financial institutions building their first formal BCP programme, or organisations refreshing an existing programme that has not kept pace with business changes.

Tabletop Continuity Testing

What It Is

A recovery playbook that has never been tested is a theoretical document. Tabletop exercises are the mechanism through which your team confronts a simulated disruption, works through their response in real time, and surfaces the gaps and assumptions that only become visible under pressure. Yuwa Solutions designs and facilitates tabletop exercises that are grounded in your BIA findings — using your highest-impact, most likely disruption scenarios as the basis for the exercise. The output is not just a report; it is a practical understanding of where your programme works and where it needs to be strengthened.

What We Deliver

Scenario design — based on BIA findings and organisation-specific risk profile
Participant briefing and pre-read materials
Facilitated tabletop exercise — timed scenario injects, structured response capture
Post-exercise hot debrief
Tabletop Exercise Report — findings, gaps, and prioritised remediation roadmap
Updated playbooks incorporating test findings
Target Stakeholders

Organisations that have an existing BCP programme and want to validate it through structured testing, or those preparing for a regulatory examination that may include BCP testing evidence.

Process Validation & Mapping

What It Is

Before a BIA can be conducted or a playbook written, the processes must be understood. Validated, documented, end-to-end process maps are the foundation of operational resilience — without them, everything else is built on assumptions. Yuwa Solutions facilitates structured process validation sessions with process owners to confirm how critical processes actually work, identify undocumented steps and dependencies, and produce standardised swimlane process maps ready for BIA facilitation and executive presentation.

What We Deliver

Structured process validation sessions — 90 minutes per critical function
Validated end-to-end swimlane process maps
Process gap register — undocumented steps, inconsistencies, and workflow dependencies
Dependency Register (draft) — initial capture of system and team dependencies per process
Presentation-ready process documentation
Target Stakeholders

Organisations beginning a BCP programme, refreshing existing process documentation, or seeking to understand their operational landscape before undertaking a broader risk or resilience engagement.

Our Approach to Operational Resilience

Our resilience frameworks are built on operational reality, not theoretical compliance. We design programmes that prepare leadership and teams to withstand and adapt to real-world disruptions — delivering verifiable continuity for your customers, stakeholders, and regulators.

01

MTPD-Led, Derived Objectives

We reject arbitrary recovery targets. Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) are derived directly from quantitative Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption modeling across five distinct business impact dimensions.

02

Deep Dependency Awareness

Resilience breaks at the interfaces. We map critical workflows against interconnected technology architectures, critical third-party vendors, core data repositories, and key personnel.

03

Actionable Under Real Pressure

Recovery playbooks are engineered as modular, decision-grade operational tools with clear triggers, escalation paths, and validated manual workarounds — not filed away compliance binders.

04

Validated Through Live Simulation

A plan is only as good as its last test. We stress-test response capabilities using realistic, timed scenario injects and cross-functional tabletop exercises that uncover actionable operational gaps.
